Overview

In this online certification program, students receive Healthcare IT training through a comprehensive program, with emphasis on Regulatory Requirements, Electronic Health Records (EHR), Organizational Behavior, ITOperations, Medical Business Operations, Networking, and Security. 
 
The core training within this program allows students to choose a path for certification. The first path has a Healthcare focus which prepares students for certification in Electronic Health Records (CEHRS) and CompTIA’s A+, while gaining exposure to Medical Office Procedures and Administration, and Network+.
 
The second path has a technical focus which prepares students for certification in CompTIA’s A+ and CompTIA’s Network+, while gaining exposure to Medical Office Procedures and Administration, and Electronic Health Records. Students may choose the exam path before they begin their program.

Software Computer Requirements

  • We recommend using either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for your internet browser if you have any issues with internet Explorer
  • Super VGA (1024 x 768) or higher-resolution video adapter with 128MB VRAM and monitor. The latest versions Macromedia Flash player and Shockwave player plug-ins for Internet browser (Firefox doesn’t use plug-ins installed for IE)
  • Shockwave You may be asked to install Shockwave on your machine to facilitate your online training. Follow the steps to install Shockwave making sure to uncheck the box that states “Install Yahoo Tool bar”.
  • Active X If at some point you may be asked to install Active X, please do so.
  • Adobe Reader If you cannot open and read your transcript you will need to go to www.adobe.com and download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.


High Speed Broadband Internet Connection is Required
    Recommended Internet speeds:
    • Download speed of at least 25 mbps
    • Upload speed of at least 3 mbps
    • Ping response of less than 100ms

Coming in July 2023.  Students can enroll and study at their own pace.

Students enrolled in a structured Online workforce development program are required to engage in an academically related activity every week. If a student is absent for 10 consecutive calendar days, the students’ enrollment in the program will be terminated. A student whose enrollment is terminated for violation of the attendance policy may not re-enroll until the next cohort starts that offers the same course the student was scheduled. This provision does not circumvent the approved refund policy.

Certification Information

Students in the Healthcare IT Technician program have two certification paths to choose from. Those who opt for a health care focus will concentrate on Electronic Health Records and CompTIA A+ certification, and prepare for the Electronic Health Records Specialist Certification (CEHRS) and A+ exams.

The more technical focus will concentrate on Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA A+) and Network+ certifications, which are the preferred certifications for technical support and IT roles.

Earning one of these national certifications demonstrates to future employers that you have mastered the skills and knowledge necessary to work successfully as a Healthcare IT Technician.

This certification ensures that individuals have the technical skills to establish, maintain and troubleshoot the networks that all businesses rely on.

CEHRS

Electronic Health Records Specialist Certification

This certification ensures that you understand how to properly handle patient health records.
